Gathering and validating requirements

Agile approaches have a big impact on the way software is developed today.

This leads to great deal of discussion as to how RE is applied in Agile projects as well in other fields, e.g. Dev Ops is an approach to adopt ideas from Agile and Lean in operations.

In his article Albert Tort presents an approach for how to use requirements to support quality assurance in such a context.

The Requirements Engineering Magazine is an independent online magazine, published every four months by IREB.

The Requirements Engineering Magazine shall serve as a platform for the active exchange of professionals on Requirements Engineering (RE).

Everybody is welcome to submit articles, may she/he be IREB member or not!

As the Requirements Engineering Magazine provides a global platform for the active exchange on RE, the articles solely reflect the authors’ viewpoints and do not necessarily express the opinion of the IREB; some articles might not represent the official position of IREB. Is it a job title, a role or just a collection of techniques and methods?

This issue offers you two articles which address this topic from different perspectives.Oliver Stypa and Sebastian Schlaus present The Context-Canvas, a simple mapping tool to support communication right from conception.

Superficially, the new book reminds one a lot of the old Encyclopedia. The only group that should mourn these changes are the safety razor and safety razor blade collectors, for everyone else makes out like a bandit.

The percentage of married people ages 35 to 44 has declined precipitously over the last 40 years: … 24 percent of women ages 40 to 44 with bachelor’s degrees were childless, in contrast to 10 percent of women without a high school diploma. In The Mating Mind, Geoffrey Miller wrote: Our ancestors probably had their first sexual experiences soon after reaching sexual maturity. Take away the offspring, blocked by the Pill and ready abortion, and it’s also a pretty fair description of today’s prolonged singles scene. deftly uses theories of evolutionary psychology to argue that the sexual revolution was essentially aimed at restoring primate-style hypergamy to human females and freeing women to try to capture the attention of and mate with the alpha males of their choosing instead of remaining chaste until their early marriage to a decent and hard-working beta (only the very best looking young women stood a chance of snagging an alpha in the old days). Beta men become superfluous until the newly liberated women start double-clutching after years in the serial harems of alphas who won’t “commit,” lower their standards, and “settle.” It is not clear to me why longer-term monogamy was more natural for farmers, versus shorter term relations for isolated forager bands. If true, perhaps farming men could better coordinate to keep women from running away.
